Hemoglobin electrophoresis is a technique to measure hemoglobin levels and to identify abnormal types of hemoglobin. Different types of hemoglobin are: Adult type (HbA2), Fetal type (HbF), hemoglobin S (HbS), hemoglobin D Punjab (HbD) etc. This test helps to diagnose anemia, thalassemias, sickle cell disease & other hemoglobin disorders. It can be used to screen newborn babies for these defects and other serious problems. Helps diagnose hemoglobinopathies (eg, sickle cell disease, thalassemia)- Aids in differentiating normal from abnormal hemoglobin variants- Supports genetic counseling for inherited blood disorders- Assists in monitoring disease progression and treatment response.
